Should 3-4 times normal shock be used in a vinyl pool as well?

At this point body bulging is much simpler and can probably even win a competition become an Olympic champion before keeping up with maintaining a swimming pool.

No explanation of exactly how much shock to actually use based on current chlorine and cya levels and how to test if the chlorine you added actually reached shock level? 🙄

I own a saltwater pool and bought a new salt cell last year. The salt level reads 3200 for a 30,000 gallon pool. For the past 2 years, I have been adding 1-2 gallons of liquid shock each week because my pool does not hold free chlorine. I had my water tested at a local pool store and they told me I should be adding 3 gallons of liquid shock each week. I added 3 tubs of conditioner to see if that would help hold free chlorine and by the end of the week, 0. Another local store told me my salt generator is not working and needs replaced. If my salt level reads 3200, I assumed the cell and generator are working. If the generator is not working, does the cell still produce salt?

When I treble shock do I use 3 bags at one time into a bucket of water?

The question I have is how long do I leave the chlorine tablets floating for? And how long do I have to make the kids wait t9 swim after taking the tablets out?

Yesterday my total chlorine was 10, free chlorine 0.5 and my cya was! Having a vinyl, 3500 gallon pool, I use three 1" tablets in my floater and use a mineral flip floater, use a non-chlorine oxidizing shock weekly and super shock it every 2 weeks. I've had one day all season since adding water that my numbers have been in the normal range. I keep getting the "black algae" on the bottom. I scrub, skim and vacuum every day as well as spraying off or replacing the filter cartridge. We have a side mounted pump. I've gotten in it 2x and my son once. That's it

I bought my strips at Wallyworld. I think they may be defective. Chlorine shows 0 even after shocking. We keep 2 pucks in the floater at all times. No algae problems. Water is pretty clear, but not crystal clear. At one time was told it is possible to have too many pucks in the floater due to the buffering in the pucks. Could the strips be in error? Other chemical indicators are pretty close.

I’ve done this three times now and each time when I retest after shocking, my free chlorine is zero

To drain, you can also take a garden hose or several hoses and turn them around where the male end is in the tub and the female end is out to the yard or drain area then turn on the jets and stick the male hose end over the jets (it'll make a syphon) then push the male ended hose in the bottom of your tube. I do three or four hoses, it'll drain in about 40mn

Never add this chlorine stabilizing acid with tablets, because after a year there will be too much of it, because it does not weather and to get rid of it, you will have to replace the water in the pool. It's cheaper to just add chlorine regularly.

my salt levels are good at 3200ppm. All other levels are low, except we have really hard water and the hardness is very high. i have ran the chlorinator and boost and cant get the chlorine up.
